History of the Lake Superior Figure Skating Club

Since 1978, the Lake Superior Figure Skating Club, has been dedicated to supporting skater development in our community. From our very youngest to our most elite athletes, our dedicated team of certified Skate Canada coaches provide and maintain the highest quality of programming in an enjoyable and positive setting.

Our club promotes camaraderie, athleticism and spirited competition, but more importantly, focuses on developing skaters who are able to set goals and inspire others, while increasing responsibility, cooperation and respect for themselves and others.  As an organization, the LSFSC encourages strong relationships and professionalism from the Board, parent/volunteer community, athletes and coaches.

The Board has expressed the importance of building a sense of community through their annual Ghoul-a-thon, Christmas Gala and Food Drive, CanSkate Santa Parties and Year End Banquet.  Leadership development in our skaters is also a priority. Skaters are encouraged to pursue a Program Assistant role and/or their CanSkate coaching qualifications during their skating career with the club.

A 4 week summer camp opportunity is also available in July for athletes across Northern Ontario who wish to train year-round.  The Summer Program offers JR Starskate, Int and Sr Skaters freestyle, dance, skills and stroking as well as off-ice training and choreography for full-time weekly skaters.
